BEN: Celebrating Black History Month
Challenge:
Amazon Europe’s Black Employee Network (BEN) needed to create a visual campaign to celebrate Black History Month 2020 in a relevant, impactful, and inclusive way across different European countries. The challenge was to develop an identity that honored Black cultural heritage and excellence, connecting with diverse audiences, valuing representation, and ensuring sensitive, adaptive, and culturally meaningful communication.

Project:
We developed a vibrant, dynamic and highly adaptable visual identity that celebrates the history and achievements of black figures through bold and meaningful illustrations. The proposal broke with generic approaches, offering a localized visual narrative that allows adaptations for different European countries, without losing its strength and purpose.
The design balances unity and flexibility, combining an impactful aesthetic with a vibrant palette and a language that values cultural diversity. Each piece highlights the legacy of black personalities who shaped history, science, art and society, promoting not only a celebration, but also an invitation to reflection, inclusion and appreciation of diversity in the corporate environment. With art direction, illustration development and localization strategy, the campaign became a visual reference for how representation can — and should — be central to the construction of narratives within large organizations.
