Gamification for Kindle App: Engagement Journey
Challenge:
The Kindle app, one of the most popular reading platforms in the world, faced a significant challenge: how to increase engagement in the reading experience for younger audiences accustomed to more dynamic interactions, quick rewards and gamified experiences? The proposal was to transform the act of reading — traditionally seen as a linear and solitary activity — into an interactive journey, capable of increasing usage time, strengthening reader loyalty and generating greater satisfaction.

Based on an experiment in user behavior and gamification dynamics, I developed a reading journey that transforms reading into an immersive experience. The proposal combines minimalist design and playful resources — such as progress bars, achievements, badges and interactive elements — to stimulate motivation and a sense of evolution.

Result:
This approach breaks with the traditional reading model, making it more accessible, fun and inclusive, valuing personal milestones and encouraging both casual and avid readers. The entire process was supported by research, usability testing and art direction, ensuring a practical, refined solution that is aligned with the expectations of modern readers. The result is a more enjoyable, stimulating and goal-oriented reading experience that speaks directly to new generations, without losing the essence of the pleasure of reading.
